🔴 Cyclone Montha Latest Update

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a high alert as Cyclone Montha continues to intensify over the Bay of Bengal. The storm is moving northwest and is expected to make landfall near the Andhra Pradesh coast, between Kakinada and Machilipatnam, by October 28.

According to IMD forecasts, wind speeds may reach 90–110 km/h, with gusts possibly exceeding 120 km/h during landfall. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely across coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and North Tamil Nadu.

  • Andhra Pradesh: East & West Godavari, Krishna, Visakhapatnam
  • Odisha: Ganjam, Gajapati, and Puri districts
  • Tamil Nadu: Northern coastal zones
  • Telangana: Light to moderate rainfall expected in southern regions

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea. State governments are preparing relief camps and have begun evacuations in low-lying areas.
